Drsvan Rensburg &Partners acquire the first
Toshiba Aquilion ONE Vision (New Generation)
in Johannesburg.
Life Flora Clinic ‘s radiology department, operated by the Drs van Rensburg partnership, now leads the way in CT imaging in Gauteng giving patients the most advanced and safest Cardiac, Neuro and routine imaging examinations yet to be seen in this region. This follows the installation and commissioning of the first new generation Toshiba Aquilion ONE Vision CT scanner in South Africa.
Conveniently situated adjacent to the N1 Western bypass, Flora Clinic is within close reach of most north westerly Johannesburg suburbs. This X-ray department is the flagship of the van Rensburg practice.

Supplied and installed by Tecmed Africa, this CT, manufactured in Japan, boasts the lowest radiation dose levels of any CT in the world market. The new CT system can produce 640 image slices with 0.5mm thickness in almost a third of a second, making it the leading and fastest volume CT in the field of clinical imaging.

Paediatric imaging now no longer requires that the little patients be sedated, restrained or have their pulse rates regulated by medication because this CT system is so fast it captures the anatomical images almost instantaneously. This holds true for adult imaging of the heart as well. In less than half a second, this CT system will produce artefact free imaging of all regions of the patient without the need to control pulse rates or any other factor that opposition CT systems struggle with to generate perfect and accurate images. All of this with minimal radiation dose levels.

Stroke detection time and region identification can now be reduced from the standard of “many hours” to just a few short minutes. Full visualisation of blood flows, organ functions and joint movements can be observed not only in 3D format but on this Aquilion ONE Vision system, in 4D. This means that the specialist can now look at 3 dimensional images of the patient with movement. (4D movies of the patient’s anatomy). This CT is both a Cardiologist and Orthopaedic specialists dream machine.

Flora Clinic’s specialists have long been major supporters of Cardiac CT imaging and now have the best system available in the world to further aid themselves to provide patients with the perfect clinical path to treatment and recovery in the least invasive way.

True healthcare professionals strive to provide patients with the least traumatic and safest forms of examinations and the investment by Drsvan Rensburg &Partners underlines their commitment to this vision. Along with the Cardiologists and referring specialists of the area, unique, ultra-low dose, accurate and repeatable CT imaging is now possible for all patients visiting this facility.
The X-ray department, located on the 2nd floor of Life Flora Clinic, provides service during normal operating hours, from 08.00am to 6.00pm daily. Of course, due to the 24 hour trauma requirements, this department is available for all emergency cases.
